A focused, intimate composition emerges on fine paper, drawn with pencil, painted with acrylics and watercolors, and accented with reflective gold elements. Layers of pigment and subtle mark-making create a sense of quiet tension and nuanced depth.

The piece is rectangular in format, presenting a profile view of a face — distinct, yet familiar, as if it could belong to someone we have just encountered. The features are rendered with both abstraction and attention to detail, inviting contemplation on presence, fleeting identity, and the transient intensity of human encounters.

The surrounding space is deliberately open, allowing the profile to breathe while emphasizing the subtle textures and interplay of light on reflective elements.

“OWN THE NOW” evokes immediacy, attention, and the vitality of the present moment. The rectangular format enhances the directness of the gaze and the concentrated energy of the composition, while the layered textures suggest both permanence and impermanence.

This work is part of the same series I began in 2020, exploring brief, meaningful encounters with people I met only once. The brevity and unfamiliarity of these meetings revealed a depth often absent in long-term friendships or family ties. This piece originates from that series.
